Make a wish

Today we are lucky enough to have a guest post. I have been talking get with a good friend of mine about Simply Stillness and she has understood what I'm about from the start.

She has a mind that can see the fairies at the bottom of the garden,  a house that is a home but is sparing on clutter,  and a smile to warm your day.

Have you ever discovered beauty in the mundane?

I did, just today in fact.

It was clear, as my pace shifted from a march to a leisurely stroll, that my walk to the local letterbox had just taken an interesting turn.

My children had made a discovery. They huddled over a patch of grass beside the footpath, excitedly clutching at dandelions with their cute little hands. They talked about their wishes, compared quality of dandelion heads and squealed as the wind suddenly picked up, blowing away some of the precious, downy florets.

What began as an ordinary walk to the letterbox, took me to a land of children’s wishes, giggles and innocence.

Moments of calm are everywhere. Where will you look for yours?

Maybe it will be the next time you’re sitting in the car, waiting for the lights to change. Or when you’re listening out for the kettle to boil. Or just before you head to bed, tip-toeing around the house and turning off the last light.

"What makes the desert beautiful," says the little prince, "is that somewhere it hides a well." Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince

Beauty is all around. Remember to look low for the dandelions. It’s amazing how high they can fly.

What a gift! The moment I read it I was taken on my own journey back to dandelion days,  to simple pleasures, and beautiful moments. Thank you,  CK!

If anyone else wants to share their experiences of touching Stillness with me I'd love to hear about it.
