I love food. No, really, I looooove food.
There's the eating, of course. The tasting of the flavours and the textures, the addition of the aromas, the visual enjoyment of the colours on the plate. But that is the least of it.
Most of my meals are eaten around family or friends. I love the social aspect of food. How we share our stories and connect with one another.
(Mostly) I love the preparation of food. (As a mother to two smallish children, the preparation phase can be a little harried!) Choosing the flavours and ingredients to mix. Selecting a good combination of proteins, carbohydrates and nutrients. Working out just how best to cook them, how best to arrange the food on the plate so it's pleasing to the eye.
I love taste-testing the food as I go. Purely to ensure I'm adding the right ingredients in the right amount of course: nothing to do with the cook's privilege of getting a sneak peek of the meal! (Especially if what I'm preparing is a cake. Yum yum)
Food. It's simple. We eat it several times a day. It's not just fuel, it's a whole delightful, delicious ritual. There's love in those meals, I tell you!
Now, time to go bake up a chocolate and apple cake. Because what's better than getting to eat what we create?

One woman I know just loves having a streak-free oven! Not my mission in life by a long shot, but the contentment it brings her can't be denied. Do you have an activity which brings you this sort of joy? An everyday activity full of satisfaction.
